
Libratus program developed by two Carnegie Mellon researchers Professor Tuomas Sandholm and grad student Noam Brown won the 20-day poker tournament Brains Vs. Artificial Intelligence: Upping the Ante. The machine won more than $ 1.7 million in chips.
Until recently it has been concidered impossible for artificial intellingence to defeat people in games with incomplete information like poker. In 2015 Claudico program played with four professional players and ranked third. For two weeks, only one scored fewer chips than the computer after having played 80,000 hands. As we can see now, developments in the field of machine learning have allowed computers to make a 'historic' step forward.
