Go Live on TwitterFacebook and YouTube may be looking over their shoulders after Twitter announced that users can now broadcast live video directly from the social networking app.

Before now, Twitter users could stream video through the Periscope app, a live streaming company Twitter acquired in 2014.

Starting Wednesday, users can broadcast live from their accounts. The new feature will be “powered by Periscope,” allowing the two services to integrate further.

“Live video is the most immersive way to experience what’s happening around the world,” Sara Haider, senior manager at Twitter, said. “From protests and monumental moments to celebrations and things that make us LOL, we’re making it easier for you to broadcast live video – straight from Twitter.”
